Garena's response to the popular battle royale mobile game Free Fire being banned in India is Free Fire India.
The Singaporean Game developer and publisher announced on Aug 31 that Free Fire India will be available in India beginning September 5. The game "Incorporates unique content and features to encourage a safe, healthy, and fun gameplay experience."
This Follows rumors of Garena returning to India and the firm filming material for their comeback event. Garena co-founder Gang Ye and Yotta infrastructure co-founder and chairman Darshan Hiranandani made the news today at a launch ceremony. H.E. Simon Wong, High Commissioner of the Republiv of Singapore to the Republic of India, was also present at the ceremony.
Yotta, a service provider approved by MeitY, would supply "local cloud hosting and storage infrastructure" for Free Fire India. It has data centre parks in Navi Mumbai's Panvel and Greater Noida, which are anticipated to house the Free Fire India servers.

So, What distinguishes the Indian version of Free Fire? According to Garena, the game would have material "specifically developed for indian users".
Free Fire India will also have a verification mechanism to allow parental monitoring, playtime limits, and break reminders.

Free Fire India's first brand ambassador is Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, In addition, he will be a playable character in the game.

This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Garena and Yotta and the Government of Utter Pradesh to promote growth of esports in india.
